Big Band Man was Ralph Marterie's last LP session on Mercury. All 10 tunes were by Jimmy McHugh. Five arrangers were used: Johnny Mandel, Skip Martin, Morty Corb, Bill Holman and Frank DeVol. Musicians include: Buddy DeFranco, Bud Shank, Gus Bivona, Bob Cooper, Babe Russin, Pete Candoli, Frank Rossolino, Jimmy Rowles, Red Mitchell, Don Fagerquist, Jack Sperling, Conrad Gozzo, Vern Friely and Al Hendricks. My copy is on Ambassador Records by arrangement with Mercury. Very nice danceable and listenable big band by one of the last great trumpet playing leaders.
Side One: Don't Blame Me , It's A Most Unusual Day, I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Exactly Like You, Where are You.
