This exceptional album by the great Pied Pipers was recorded for Tops/Mayfair March 12, 1957. For those who don't remember, TOPS was a discount label sold at Kresges, Woolworth, etc. Many fine sides were produced by talented people such as this 1957 version of the legendary Pied Pipers. Back in 1997 I found a copy on CD. It's great music with fine sound quality, too. To the best of my knowledge this is long out-of-print, so I don't feel guilty posting it for collectors to enjoy. It's been awhile since I posted something other than 1930s 78s. I hope you enjoy this one. And, I love to get your comments.

Just found this!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to hearing it.
Thanks for this one. I grew up in the '50s with TOPS records, in the day of $7.98 to $10.98 LPs, a $1.98 LP was a real deal. TOPS didn't always have the best records, but every so often, as in this case, major stars apeared on the label. I would like to hear more TOPS iuf you have them. Also, your digitizing is excellant workmanship.
