Glenn Miller at Meadowbrook April 4, 1939

Here's another nice remote from my collection. It's The Glenn Miller Orchestra at Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook Ballroom April 4, 1939.

Tunes include: Moonlight Serenade, Blue Skies, Don't Worry About Me (Ray Eberele), Romance Runs in the Family (Marion Hutton), The Masquerade is Over (Ray Eberle), Beneath the Spreading Chestnut Tree (Marion Hutton), Sticks & Stones (Marion Hutton), Our Love (Ray Eberle), By the Waters of Minnetonka, Moonlight Serenade.

Sound quality is very nice although some of the tunes are not of the quality we associate with the Miller band but typical novelty tunes of the era.

Enjoy!

PS: Just for fun I've added a 78rpm by Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook Orchestra from the mid 1930s. I'll Never Say Never Again - vocal by Nancy Flake.

  2. Do you have any recordings of remote broadcasts from the Sunnybrook Ballroom?
KYW and WCAU sent network feeds and made some transcriptions I am told.

This historic ballroom is being restored and I'm sure they could use any recordings to help promote the restoration.
